Formation for a Stewardship Way of Life

Living a life of stewardship is also living a faith that acts. It may require a shift in priorities for us, it may call us to see God at work in all that we do or make a conscious effort to reach out to those in need. Are you living your life as a "good steward" of the many gifts that God has entrusted to you?

Good Stewardship

  • Listening to what others say.
  • Expecting much of people because we know they are capable of greatness but recognizing their lives are often heavily burdened and we can accept their best effort.
  • Creating connections between Ministries in our parish so that the People of God can clearly see that "all the members, though many, are one.
  • Being open to and appreciative of all forms of prayer knowing that God speaks and listens in many ways.
  • Taking time as a family to eat a meal together, pray as a family and spend quality time with each other.
  • Stepping forward and offering your gifts and talents to strengthen the community.

Poor Stewardship

  • Not consulting anyone because we have all the answers and know what’s best for everyone.
  • Expecting and therefore asking very little from people.
  • Allowing ministries to operate independently of each other so that there is no interaction or cohesion.
  • Insisting on one form of prayer only.
  • Letting everyone "do their own thing" because it may be easier.
  • Allowing the "regulars" to volunteer because they’re good at it and no one asked me.
