Film on Henri Nouwen to air on
PBS station WNED 17

On Sunday September 30, 2007 at 11:30 p.m. the film Journey of the Heart: the life of Henri Nouwen, produced by Windborne Productions, will air on PBS station WNED 17.

It is a rich and inspiring biography, narrated by Susan Sarandon. The Henri Nouwen Society encourages everyone to watch.

Looking for an Administrative Assistant/Secretary

St. Luke's Parish, Thornhill, requires an employee who can work independently to provide secretarial support and general administrative assistance to the pastor and parish staff in a Catholic faith based community environment.

Qualifications: Strong administrative, secretarial experience and knowledge of office protocols and procedures. General knowledge of the Catholic Church to effectively respond to enquiries from parishioners and the public; keyboarding abilities and skilled in Microsoft Office Suite programs (e.g. Word, Excel); tact, diplomacy, and ability to maintain confidentiality on a variety of issues; and strong oral and written communication skills.

How can low-income working families in your parish improve their lives with an affordable home of their own?

WRP Neighbourhood Housing (www.wrphousing.org) is a group of 40 different women religious congregations in the Archdiocese of Toronto, partnering with Habitat for Humanity Toronto, The Daniels Corporation and the City of Toronto to provide affordable housing for working families with children.

Habitat for Humanity Toronto (www.torontohabitat.on.ca) is a non-profit, non-governmental charitable organization dedicated to building simple, decent, affordable homes in partnership with families.

These are home ownership programs for low-income families who want to buy a home with an affordable mortgage. Details on criteria to qualify can be found on each website.

Home Ownership Information Sessions: 1st and 3rd Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. at 1627 Danforth Ave., just east of Coxwell Ave. Registration is not required.
