A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols
St. Gabriel's Parish

The Cardinal Carter Academy Singers are pleased to present A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols on Wednesday, December 20 at 7:30 p.m. at St. Gabriel's Parish in North York (Sheppard Ave. East, just east of Bayview Ave.).

This celebration of Christmas follows the traditional format made famous by King's College, Cambridge. The story of our salvation, from the fall of humanity, to the promise of the prophecies, to the birth of Jesus, is proclaimed in scripture and song. Over one hundred and twenty young singers offer anthems, hymns and carols. Be with us for this beautiful, prayerful and inspiring start to the holidays.

Advent Retreat - Come and See

Advent is a time of waiting and preparing the way for the Lord. St. Paschal Baylon Youth in partnership with the Office of Catholic Youth is offering a weekend retreat for youth from all across the Archdiocese. The theme for the retreat is: "Teacher, where are you staying? Come and see"(John 1:38-39). During the retreat there will be time for prayer, fellowship with young people, Eucharistic Adoration, Reconciliation and celebration of the Eucharist.

Age: 14-25 years.
Cost: $85.00 (Includes facilities, 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, 1 dinner and bus transportation from St. Paschal Baylon Parish)

St. Marguerite d'Youville Parish, Brampton, is looking for a full-time or part-time Lay Pastoral Associate (hours of employment to be determined).

Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and week-ends. In this position you will head the RCIA and all parish social ministries in a leading role on the pastoral team, assisting the pastor in the care of a growing parish. The ideal candidate will have a degree in theology or related catechetical or pastoral care. Related experience is of added value. Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential for this position.

Joint Young Adult & Youth Minister Retreat
Becoming aware of the Love of God at work in our lives

Begin the new year with renewed energy and outlook by joining the Office of Catholic Youth on retreat from January 12 to 13 in the beautiful setting of Manresa. Drawing on Pope Benedict XVI's encyclical Deus Caritas Est, retreat director, Fr. Len Altilia, SJ will guide us as we learn to discern God's love at work in our lives.

We are again offering an overnight option for those who wish to settle into the retreat the night before. Cost (including lunch and breakfast or snack) is $50 for overnight (arrival on 12 - 7 p.m.) and $20 for Saturday only (arrival on 13 - 9:30 a.m.). Praying with the Songs of Taizé – a music workshop

All Saints Parish

For those interested in learning more about the music of Taizé and how to animate a prayer with the songs of Taizé, join the Office of Catholic Youth on Saturday, January 20 at All Saints Parish. The half-day workshop will be led by Janet Loo, a talented musician and choir director who has herself led music in Taizé, France. The workshop will run from 12:30 until 4:00 p.m. and will include an opportunity to rehearse as well as learn about and participate in the prayer.
