Christ and the City: An Urban Retreat. In this unique retreat experience we will explore how to be faithful followers of Jesus Christ in today's urban setting. ALPHA For Young Adults. If you are a young adult (18-39 years) and are looking to explore your relationship with Jesus, to be supported in your faith and make new friends in an upbeat atmosphere, then ALPHA is for you. “Greening” with Hildegard of Bingen. Meet Hildegard of Bingen and be inspired by this mystic, saint, prophet, musician, botanist, artist and writer of the 12th century.This workshop will be a hands-on experience through art, meditation, music, writings, video and discussion. We will be using “Meditations With Hildegard of Bingen” (Bear and Co.). The book will be available for $20 at the first session. Four Wednesdays in Easter beginning April 2 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Instructor: Sr. Betty Lou Knox. $20.00 (unwaged free). Limited to 20 persons.

Young Adult Ministry Workshop - Googling God: Exploring the Religious Landscape of People in their 20's and 30's. Join us for an all day workshop where we'll see how technology, world events and personal events of day to day life have had an effect on the religiosity of young people. Participants will come away with a number of options for immediate implementation for use in their ministry with young adults, including podcasting, blogging, video, on-line retreats and the use of “Facebook” and My Space”. Saturday April 26 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. $20.00 (lunch provided). Limited to 100 persons.

Institute on the Catechumenate

August 14-16, 2008.

North American Forum on the Catechumenate in conjunction with the Western Pastoral Region of the Archdiocese of Toronto presents an Institute on the Catechumenate.

This Institute, in Mississauga, Ontario, will provide R.C.I.A. leaders with a deeper understanding of the vision of the Rite, examining the theoretical and practical dimensions of pastoral formation and catechesis appropriate to the Catechumenate. CJI Study Tour to Zambia for Canadian teachers and educators

Canadian Jesuits International is planning a Study Tour to Zambia for Canadian teachers and educators.

The tour will help participants deepen their understanding of international social justice issues affecting Zambia and much of Africa, such as food security, economic development, education, AIDS, as well as reflect on the Church's response to these issues. From July 25 to August 11, 2008, participants will visit Jesuit and other projects, meet with local Jesuits and community leaders, have a hands-on volunteer experience, and bring this knowledge back to their classrooms.

Tallis Choir welcomes audiences to a performance of Sergei Rachmaninoff's Vespers. Based on ancient Russian chants, the Vespers (or All-Night Vigil) is considered one of the Russian Orthodox Church's greatest musical achievements and a masterpiece of the "Golden Age'' (between the 1880s and 1917) of Russian Orthodox sacred choral music. Complementing the Vespers are works by two contemporary composers – Avro Pärt and John Tavener.

Looking for a Youth Minister

St. Mary's, Barrie is seeking a youth minister to oversee a comprehensive integrated youth ministry in a large parish. The role will include institutional liaison for intermediate and secondary students as well as outreach to a burgeoning college/university population.

St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Mississauga, Lenten Mission

The St. Francis of Assisi parish community invites you to join them for their Lenten Mission 2008. Rev. Michael Della Penna will facilitate this three day mission experience!

In preparation for Easter and for the Year of St. Paul, which begins June 29, 2008, the theme of the mission will be: The Gospel of Transformation according to St. Paul. The mission is being launched over the weekend of March 1st and 2nd, during the Sunday homily and continues on Monday, March 3rd, Tuesday, March 4th and Wednesday, March 5th at 7:00 p.m.

We will end the Lenten Mission with a Penitential Service on Thursday, March 6th at 7:00 p.m. Lent provides us with a golden opportunity to receive the forgiveness of Christ in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. On this evening, we will come together as a community of faith to be reconciled to the Father and to one another through the gift of this Sacrament. A number of priests will be available for individual Confession and Absolution. This is a beautiful way to prepare for Holy Week. Through the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Penance), we recognize and celebrate the love and forgiveness of Jesus and the peace that He brings.
