A CALL TO PRAYER FOR HOSTAGES IN IRAQ

A STATEMENT BY ALOYSIUS CARDINAL AMBROZIC

TORONTO (6 December 2005)  The four hostages recently captured in Iraq include James Loney, from the city of Toronto.  Others have, unfortunately, been taken with him.

I pray, and I ask that others pray, that the lives of all may be spared. We hope for the release of hostages, and an end to the capture and killing of innocent men, women and children.

As  we await the coming of the Prince of Peace, we are asked to work toward a just and lasting peace on earth.
