Lectio Divina – A Year With St. Paul

All are welcome to join Archbishop Thomas Collins for Lectio Divina.

Sunday, January 18, 2009
St. Michael's Cathedral, 65 Bond Street, Toronto.

Vespers are at 7:00 p.m., followed by the Lectio Divina from 7:30 p.m. - 8:15 p.m.

This month's scripture passage: Romans 12:1-13 and Romans 13: 8-14. Please join us for this personal encounter with God through Scripture.

This Sacred reading provides an opportunity to read aloud the Word of God taking time to pause, reflect and pray together. In the coming year, we will encounter Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount, summarizing the foundation of Christian life.

Canadian Certificate in
Youth Ministry Studies program

The University of St. Michael's College, Toronto, is offering the Canadian Certificate in Youth Ministry Studies program. The program cycle continues with Practices of Youth Ministry on January 31 - February 1, 2009. Course topics include:

- The skills and processes for collaborating with a youth ministry team and with the community to do effective youth ministry.
- Preparing and nurturing adult and young leaders in ministry.
- Developing youth ministry through a process, which includes planning, implementing and evaluating.

Prospective students may begin the program at anytime, and it is not necessary to begin with the first course. 400th Anniversary of the Loretto Sisters
1609-2009

On January 1, 2009, the members of the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary, (known in Canada as Loretto Sisters) will begin a year-long celebration of the 400th Anniversary of the founding of their congregation.

Mary Ward, their founder, known as “that incomparable woman,” a young Englishwoman, with five companions established an innovative congregation for religious woman. Internationally, the sisters minister today on five continents and in 46 countries. They have served in education and other ministries in the Archdiocese of Toronto since 1847.
