St. Gertrude's 50th Anniversary Celebration

This year St. Gertrude’s Parish Community is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the dedication of St. Gertrude's Church, 690 King St. E., Oshawa, which took place in May of 1960.

As November 16th is the feast of St. Gertrude, the anniversary celebration will take place Sunday, November 14th at the Noon mass with Bishop Vincent Nguyen as the main celebrant. A reception will follow in the church hall.

Please mark your calendars now and plan to be a part of this special celebration. The first mass of St. Gertrude's Parish was actually celebrated on Sept. 9, 1951 in the carriage garage on the property. The basement church was completed by Christmas of 1954. The cornerstone ceremony was on Feb. 6, 1955.

This is not a typical biography, comprised of dates and analyses, rather, it is one of impressions on consecutive stages of life of Karol Wojtyla – Pope John Paul II, from childhood until his last breath.
