Brother Tom Liss, O.H. is the Director of Shelter and Hospitality at Toronto's Good Shepherd Centre. He first felt a call to serve the poor while in university. But it wasn't until many years later that he reached a plateau in his government job and began daily asking the Lord, "would you like me to serve the poor as a priest, a brother or a layman?"
The answer came loud and clear. In 1992 he lay down his life in service of the poor by joining the Little Brothers of the Good Shepherd. During the Year of Consecrated Life, his order fused with the Hospitaller Brothers of St. John of God. This joining of orders provided an opportunity for Brother Tom to renew his vocation and reflect on his unique call.
