Please register and submit payment through either the Archdiocese of Toronto or the Diocese of Hamilton. 

Offered jointly by Office of the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, Archdiocese of Toronto and Continuing Education, University of St. Michael's College.

The Catechesis of the Good Shepherd certificate programs are 90 or 120 hour formation courses, which immerse you in the atrium experience.  During these courses, the majority of your time will be spent participating in presentations as the children would and engaging in conversations about the biblical and liturgical themes that undergird our approach.

The program includes:


  • ​on the religious capacity and needs of children

  • on the ways that parents, teachers and catechists can nurture a child's relationship with God and begin sacramental prepara​tion

  • on the themes from the Bible and liturgy which children which respond to most readily at various stages of development

  • on key catechetical texts by Sofia Cavalletti and Gianna Gobbi


  • demonstrating how each of the ​handmade catechetical materials assist children's prayer and mediation


  • through an introduction to the "atrium" environment, which is designed to foster a child's relationship with God (the course will take place at one of the parish-based atriums in Toronto).

  • through the creation of an individual handbook of biblical and liturgical presentations for children

  • through hands-on experience with these catechetical materials
