"As each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another as
stewards of God's varied grace" 1 Peter 4:10

Our parishes are our spiritual homes where we come to worship God, encounter Christ in the Holy Eucharist, pray, and meet with one another as a parish community. A vibrant parish is one that is filled with good stewards who seek to grow in holiness and become saints by serving God and one another.

A good steward, then, is someone who receives God's gifts gratefully, develops those gifts responsibly, shares those gifts lovingly in justice with others, and makes a return with interest to the Lord. In addition, a good steward encourages others to do the same.

This is the spirit of deep stewardship, the fruit of which is vibrant parishes.

Another great gift God has given us are our talents, fruitfully using them and encouraging others to do the same with theirs, for the common good. Joy in life comes from using our talents creatively and fruitfully for the glory of God and in the service of our neighbours, and from celebrating the differing gifts of the people around us.

Our shared goal, in accordance with the Pastoral Plan and Cardinal Thomas Collins's recent Pastoral Letter on Stewardship, is to revitalize parishes in the Archdiocese of Toronto with deep stewardship. Stewardship is not a program or a "new thing" we should do in addition to what we are already doing. Stewardship is a profound disposition of the heart and mind which transforms everything we do.
