RCIA Formation Webinar

A Place for Everyone and Everyone in the Their Place: A Look at the Catechetical and Liturgical Needs in the RCIA

Saturday, June 12, 2021, from 10:00 A.M. to 11:30 A.M.

This event is for those who are RCIA directors, catechists, and clergy.

“The rite of Christian initiation presented here is designed for adults who, after hearing the mystery of Christ proclaimed, consciously and freely seek the living God and enter the way of faith and conversion as the Holy Spirit opens their hearts.” (RCIA, 1).

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is intended for adults who are unbaptized and uncatechized. However, the reality in our parishes is that many adults come looking to complete their Sacraments of Initiation or to be received into the Catholic Church. The question is, how do we respond to their needs and desires? If RCIA is not the place for them, what are we supposed to do?

In this webinar, we will review:
1. Groups of people who arrive in RCIA such as unbaptized, uncatechized, non-Catholic baptized but uncatechized Christian, non-Catholic but catechized Christian, baptized but uncatechized Catholic, and baptized, catechized Catholic looking to complete their sacraments of initiation.

2. Different catechetical and liturgical needs of each of the above groups.

3. Ways to adapt current RCIA catechetical programs to meet needs that exist in the groups
