Advisory - 9,000 Years of Marriage Under One Roof

​215 GTA Couples Gather Feb. 10 for 'Celebration of Marriage'

TORONTO (February 8, 2019) 215 couples celebrating a collective 9,000 years of marriage will come together for a special Mass to honour those celebrating 25th, 40th, 50th and 60+ wedding anniversaries in 2019. Cardinal Thomas Collins will preside at the event, part of the Archdiocese of Toronto's "Marriage Sunday" celebrations.

The event, expected to draw approximately 1,000 guests, is organized by the Archdiocese of Toronto's Office of Formation for Discipleship and a number of marriage enrichment organizations active throughout the Greater Toronto Area. In addition to the Celebration of Marriage Mass, each year the Archdiocese of Toronto recognizes the importance of supporting married couples through "Marriage Sunday" initiatives at local churches.

When:  Sunday, February 10, 2019, 4 p.m.
Where: St. Clare of Assisi Parish (150 St. Francis Ave., Woodbridge)

  • 215 married couples from more than 100 Catholic churches across the Archdiocese of Toronto, celebrating their 25th, 40th, 50th or 60+ wedding anniversaries in 2019

  • More than 70 couples in attendance will be celebrating 50+ years of marriage

What: Mass, special blessing for married couples, group photograph with milestone celebrants, reception for all attendees.
