Online Catechist Formation Program

An experience of faith formation that informs the ministry of catechists

Prerequisite: Approval of the pastor and commitment of the registrant to participate in the entire program

The programme is free of charge; a book fee may apply.

If the programme is not completed, a $75 charge per incomplete registration will be billed to the parish.

The programme consists of:

Online courses:

  1. April 8 - May 12, 2018
    Starting Anew from Christ: On Being a Catechist (5 weeks)

  2. May 27 - June 30, 2018
    Survey of Catholic Doctrine (5 weeks)

  3. September 2-22, 2018 (plus project)
    Catechesis in the Archdiocese of Toronto (3 weeks)

Online Faith Formation Study Opportunity

Offered in Partnership with the University of Dayton, open to all members of the Archdiocese of Toronto

Registration is now open for the Online Catechist Formation Programme, run by the Office of Formation for Discipleship. The programme begins on April 8. Prerequisites are the pastor’s approval and the registrant’s commitment to participate in both online courses and group gatherings.

Bereavement Ministry Training (also known as the Ministry of Consolation)

These sessions will prepare participants to minister to the bereaved in a parish setting. Participants will engage in an interactive, two-day faith-based educational and spiritual learning opportunity. Participants are required to attend both Saturdays. Please bring your own lunch. Cost of workbook (optional): $40

Formation and Training Day for Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion and Readers

Registration is now open for a Formation and Training Day for Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion and Readers on Saturday, May 12 at St. Clement’s Parish, 409 Markland Drive, Etobicoke.

Formation and Training for Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion will be from 9 a.m. to noon. Open to all current and prospective Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, the day will consist of a discussion of the theology of the Eucharist, discussion on the liturgical considerations needed for Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, and there will also be time for other practical needs and concerns to be addressed.

Formation and Training for Readers will be from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Open to all current and prospective readers, the day will be spent discussing the theological and liturgical importance of the proclamation Scripture as well as discussing practical tips and tools to aide in the formation of Readers in the parish.

Liturgy of the Word with Children Training

Liturgy of the Word with Children provides an opportunity to share the Gospel with children in a way that engages their hearts and minds.  Under the guidance of an adult leader, the children will hear the Gospel in words they can understand.  The children will have time to discuss what Gospel means in their lives, while continuing their participation in the Mass.  

 

During this workshop you will:

- discern the role of the adult leader

- develop your skills as a Proclaimer of the Gospel

- discover ways to facilitate the Gospel reflection with children

- discuss ways to set up the worship space to reflect the liturgical year

- review volunteer screening requirements

Grasping the Vision: A Ministry for the 21st Century
