Moving Into the Deep Waters of Mission: Start with Jesus. The pandemic has accelerated the rate of decline in our ministries but also provided immense opportunities for growth and innovation. Moving into the deep starts with Jesus, what he did and what he asked us to do. It is He who challenges each one of us to grow as a disciple so that we can become a disciple maker and accompany others on the way. Whether you are a regular “person in the pew”, volunteer at your parish or a paid parish minister, it is time for us to move into the deep waters of our mission.

With Burning Hearts. The account of the journey to Emmaus is one of accompaniment, recognition, and proclamation. “They said to each other, ‘Were not our hearts burning within us while he was talking to us…’” (Luke 24:32) The new Directory for Catechesis asks us to go out as those who ‘echo the faith’, to engage with people of all ages and at all stages of life through our words and actions, giving witness to the Good News. This conference focused on understanding how every parish ministry is catechetical, and how we might go forward in the pandemic and post-pandemic context.

"Called to Be Saints" (1 Cor 1;2) When St. Paul addressed the church at Corinth, he referred to all who were sanctified in Christ Jesus as those who were called to be saints (1 Cor 1:2). We have heard this call to holiness echoed through the years in Church teachings and most recently, by Pope Francis. This conference focused on the source and meaning of our call to holiness, both as individuals and as the Church.
