Filling the Jars to the Brim - A Pastoral Plan for the Archdiocese of Toronto, 2026 to 2033

Archdiocese of Toronto Launches New Pastoral Plan: Filling the Jars to the Brim

Posted : Nov-04-2026

The Archdiocese of Toronto is embarking on a seven-year journey of prayer, discernment and pastoral renewal with the launch of our new Pastoral Plan, Filling the Jars to the Brim. Spanning 2026 to 2033, the plan invites parishes and communities to grow together in faith, communion and missionary discipleship as we journey toward the Great Jubilee of 2033.

In his Letter of Introduction, Cardinal Leo encourages clergy, consecrated persons and lay faithful to participate in this pastoral journey through prayer, listening and service, trusting in the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the transforming power of Christ’s grace.

During the month of November, four regional launch events will introduce the Pastoral Plan to parish leaders and other local faith partners. These gatherings will offer an opportunity to learn more about the plan and reflect on how our Catholic community can participate in this shared journey.

The plan begins with a Year of Discernment (2026–2027). During this time, parishes are invited to listen attentively to the Holy Spirit, recognize the gifts and needs of their communities, and discern how the Lord is calling them to respond.

The following six years will each highlight one of six interconnected pastoral priorities, symbolized by the six stone jars at the wedding feast at Cana:

  • 2027–2028: Family Life at All Stages
  • 2028–2029: Social Outreach to the Poor, Sick and Vulnerable
  • 2029–2030: Prayer, Spirituality and Sacramental Life
  • 2030–2031: Catechesis and Formation
  • 2031–2032: Vocations and Charisms: Discernment and Promotion
  • 2032–2033: Youth and Young Adults

Although each year will give particular attention to one priority, all six will remain connected throughout the journey. Together, they offer an integrated path for renewing parish life and strengthening our shared mission to bring Christ’s love to others.

All members of the archdiocesan community are encouraged to read the Pastoral Plan, pray for this journey and explore how they can participate in their local parish.
