Cardinal Leo Invites Prayers for Pope Leo XIV

Posted : Oct-13-2026

Cardinal Frank Leo, Metropolitan Archbishop of Toronto, has invited the Catholic community to join in prayer for Pope Leo XIV. It was announced on Sunday, October 11 that doctors had discovered a small, localized nodule in the Holy Father’s lung during a recent medical examination. The nodule was detected at a very early stage, and doctors recommended surgery to remove it.

Our Catholic community is invited to join in offering the following prayer from Cardinal Leo:

O Mary,  Mother of the Church and Health of the sick,
we turn to you with love and devotion as we ask
for your powerful intercession for Pope Leo XIV.

You are our mother, our companion and our confidante.
You are our refuge and advocate.
You are a sign of sure hope and consolation to all of God’s holy people
as we make our pilgrim way to the Kingdom.

Look favourably and with mercy upon our Holy Father
whom your Son Jesus, our Saviour, has chosen as our universal Shepherd.

Grant that, by your maternal mediation and fervent prayer,
Our Lord will bestow peace upon Pope Leo, comfort him in his hour of need
And restore him to good health, affording him renewed vigour
to continue his apostolic mission, according to God’s holy will.

We thank you, Mother most holy, for caring and for praying with us
and for us to Jesus, your Son, our Lord.

Amen.
