Marriage Sunday

February 10/11, 2024

Marriage Sunday highlights the importance of the sacrament of marriage, affirms couples who strengthen our faith community through their witness, and complements World Marriage Sunday celebrations that take place across North America. It also honours those who serve in marriage ministries, whether in marriage preparation or marriage enrichment. First celebrated in the Archdiocese of Toronto in 2011, Marriage Sunday was designated on the second Sunday of February each year (the weekend prior to the Family Day long weekend). In 2024, Marriage Sunday weekend will be celebrated on February 10/11.

Celebration of Marriage Mass

As part of  Marriage Sunday 2024 celebrations, Archbishop Francis Leo will preside at a special Mass to honour married couples, with special recognition for those celebrating 25th, 40th, 50th, 60th and 60+ wedding anniversaries in 2024. The Mass will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 11, 2024, at St. Michael's Cathedral Basilica (65 Bond Street, Toronto). All married couples will have an opportunity to renew their marriage commitment.

All are welcome to attend. Please note that reserved seating is now at full capacity. All other seating is on a first-come basis.

Those who are unable to attend the Cathedral are invited to join the celebration via livestream Mass https://www.stmichaelscathedral.com/live/. The broadcast will begin at 2:45 p.m.

"Marriage is a precious sign, for when a man and a woman celebrate the sacrament of marriage, God is, as it were, 'mirrored' in them; he impresses in them his own features and the indelible character of his love. Marriage is the icon of God's love for us."
From Pope Francis' Amoris Laetitia
