June 2025 Update

In 2024, the Archdiocese of Toronto acquired the Invermara property in Orilla from the Sisters of St. Joseph of Toronto. It will continue to serve as a place of welcome, reflection and prayer. In response to numerous inquiries about booking procedures and group use, this update will provide answers to some frequently asked questions.

About the Property

The retreat centre is located at 200 Invermara Court in Orillia. The site is on the waterfront on a peninsula along the northern shores of Lake Simcoe.

There are seven (7) structures on this beautiful, picturesque property; comprising of four (4) one-storey residential buildings, a cafeteria with outdoor covered seating area to enjoy the breathtaking views of the property as well as an outdoor pool, a pool shed and a garage.

The residential buildings house thirty-two (32) rooms in total spread among the four residential buildings. The majority of rooms have a shared bathroom. They are as follows:

• Sacred Heart House – 12 rooms
• Holy Family House – 5 rooms
• Mary House – 9 rooms (available mid-May to mid-October)
• Joseph House – 6 rooms (available mid-May to mid-October)
• Cafeteria – 35 people (available mid-May to mid-October). A patio area with additional outdoor seating is also available. Onsite catering (lunch and dinner) can be arranged for your booking.

What kind of events can be considered for Invermara?

Invermara is an ideal location for prayer, reflection and renewal in a beautiful Catholic setting. Events may also include:

• Rest, retreat and renewal for Priests, Deacons, Religious Sisters/Brothers and Seminarians and laity including ecclesial movements and associations.
• Parish groups, activities and events
• Talks and spiritual retreats
• Educational events
• Recreational activities
• Catholic School students retreats (no overnight stays at present)
• Catholic Youth and young adult retreats (no overnight stays at present)
• Board meetings, Regional and Zones meetings, departmental workshops, team building and strategy sessions.
• Archdiocesan fundraising events
