A VIRTUAL EVENT RUN BY ST. AUGUSTINE’S SEMINARY

The season of Advent is a time of preparation. We are encouraged to reflect on the joy of our Lord's coming as a baby. Moreover, we are challenged to stay spiritually awake as we anticipate our Lord's second coming. One way of preparing is to spend more time in prayer and meditation. Retreats provide a wonderful opportunity to ponder the gift of faith. This year we are delighted to partner with the Sheptytsky Institute of Eastern Christian Studies. Dr. Brian Butcher will be our facilitator and will teach us about the distinctive ways in which Eastern, and particularly Byzantine Rite, Christians pray, showing us how to incorporate the richness of Eastern Christian spirituality into our own life of prayer. We will reflect on the gift of iconography as we ponder the mystery of God becoming human in Jesus. Dr. Butcher answers your questions about the retreat in his blog post: https://bit.ly/DrButcherQandA.
