Join us on Wednesday, May 10 at 7 p.m. as we hear from Nathan Gibbard, Director of Toronto Metropolitan Catholic Campus Ministry. Memento Mori, (remembering that you have to die) as a practice, is an ancient one in the life of the Church but has gained recent popularity amongst some Catholic influencers. Taken by itself, it is an old and beneficial practice, but one has to be careful: taken as part of identity politics - as an 'us vs. them' approach - doesn't help in approaching God and fostering a richer spiritual life. Instead, Memento Mori should always be understood and practiced through St. Paul's words to the Philippians: "to live is Christ, to die is gain." For this talk we will be looking at the roots of the practice, and some tips on how to integrate it into a healthy spiritual life.
