A VIRTUAL EVENT RECOMMENDED BY THE OFFICE FOR PROMOTING CHRISTIAN UNITY AND RELIGIOUS RELATIONS WITH JUDAISM
This online retreat has significance for Catholics and especially our work with the Jewish community. Participating in this retreat, we will be inspired to live the virtues of humility, courage and hope, reflecting on the life of Father Jacques de Jésus (1900-1945), whose beatification process is underway. He was an educator and defender of human rights. The Gestapo arrested Père Jacques with the three Jewish children he sheltered and protected in the school where he was the director at the Carmelite convent in Avon, France. A film directed by Louis Malle, “Au revoir les enfants" (Goodbye Children) dramatized this story. All are encouraged to join this retreat as it will provide a robust Lenten path to follow as we walk towards the light of Christ. Once registered, you will receive each week a short video to watch and a four-page document that includes a meditation based on the Scripture reading for Sunday, words from of Père Jacques, three suggestions to put the meditation into practice and illustrated quotes to help you pray each day.
