Bishop Roch Martin

Rejoicing in the Episcopal Ordination of Timmins Bishop Roch Martin

Posted : Aug-28-2026

On August 24, priests, deacons, pastoral workers, and faithful from the Dioceses of Timmins, Sault Ste. Marie, and Hearst-Moosonee were present to celebrate the Episcopal Ordination of Bishop Roch Martin. His Eminence Frank Cardinal Leo took part in the celebrations.

Bishop Martin's Letter of Appointment (Bull) was solemnly read in the presence of his representatives from the Apostolic Nunciature. Bishop Martin was presented with the symbols of his Episcopal office: the Book of the Gospels, the episcopal ring, the miter, and the crosier. He was then formally seated at the cathedra, signifying his assumption of the office and pastoral ministry entrusted to him.

It was a beautiful and joyful celebration, marked by prayer, thanksgiving, and a deep sense of unity. The presence of the faithful from across the region made this a truly memorable occasion for the Church and for all who had the privilege of taking part in this important moment.
